Recently attended an auction and purchased two large bowls cream with
two brown bands around the base of the bowls - one wide the other
nearer the bottom was narrow. The bottom was unglazed and had McCoy
cut into the bottom. I now think I paid too much and that they are
probably repos. If anyone can advise me I would be appreciative.

My mother is 94 years old and yesterday, my daughter and I were
visiting and were looking through all of my mother's old "dishes". In
the bottom of a cabinet was a planter that I bought my mother for
mother's day in either 1957 or 1958 when my daughter was a baby. I
was the only person that ever really liked the planter. I told my
mother I would really enjoy having it back to give to my daughter
some day. I looked on the bottom and to my joy it is a McCoy planter.
It has three quail on the front and is in mint condition. I was
thrilled. Do you know the value of this item?

I have a McCoy planter that has the McCoy name on the bottom that
appears to have been glazed over. Either someone wanted to hide the
fact that this piece is a repo, or for another reaseon unknown. My
question is how do I get this glaze off the bottom without distroying
the piece. This is a gift for my wife who collects McCoy and I would
hate for it to be a repo, but until I can see the bottom I can't say

***LOOKING FOR VITROMASTERS "GALAXY" PATTERN*** I recently lost a
good portion of my home to an electrical fire. Sad, to say that along
with some very special and personal items I lost all of my fine
china, stonewear, and stemwear. Among the items lost was my set of
Vitromaster "Galaxy"-1993 stonewear. If anyone knows how I might be
able to acquire a new set, or even pieces of this pattern please let
me know by emailing me at the above email address. My children loved
that pattern and it holds some fond memories for them as well as
myself. I also just began to collect Mc Coy planters and lost the
three I had as well. I am wondering if anyone knows of any snail-mail

I am not one of the pottery McCoy's. I first knew of McCoy Pottery
when I found a small rectangular box in the pinecone pattern in my
mother-in-law's belongings. I started looking around and collecting
whatever I saw. I have evolved to an interest in mostly pre WWII
pieces and do no buy often. Among my favorite treasures are a Libery
Bell Umbrella Stand,a long neck Jewell vase,a 6" Zuniart vase,a
little jug vase,a Nurock Peacock pitcher and a variety of other
interesting and not so interesting pieces. My Grandson, 2 yrs old,
broke both of my Man's best friend dog bowls when his family baby sat
my puppy at Christmas. I am crushed, but I do love him more than the
bowls. I may be able to replace them one day but he is irreplaceable.
One of my favorite places to find McCoy was on the old Pacific Coast
Highway between Portland & Salem, OR. Aurora, OR is a jewel of a
town for it's many delightful antique shops and there are a number of
other really fascinating ones going south towards Salem. I haven't
bought much lately but love pitchers, the little stretch animals,
kitchen bowls, etc - would love to find some children's dishes or an
old oil jar or stoneware crock or jug. I'm just having fun with my
new computer exploring all of these web pages for McCoy. My daughter
wants me to pack up and go to the Collectors gathering in Ohio this
weekend. I look forward to having fun with all this education on
McCoy available.

McCoy's originates from. My grandpa worked for McCoys and helped
design some of the pottery and I am looking to find out which ones he

I have a question.I bought a vase at a garage sale and it's a Mc Coy.
I went and looked up the marking and it was the plain one that just
says "Mc Coy." It's a blue-green color, has handles on sides, has a
round bottom and then going up gets smaller around and then gets
bigger, it also has a marking on it kind of like a plant. I was
wondering if it might be worth anything. If anyone knows about this

I love the site, it is very informative. There were several items
that I had not seen. My love for McCoy began when I was just a child.
I would look at the wishing well that my mother had for hours, not
realizing at that age, it was the beginning of my McCoy addiction.
About four years ago we were finishing construction on our log home
and my father and I would go to auctions looking for antiques. At one
such auction I bought a box of old flower pots, some of them chipped
for $3.00. Was I amazed when I received my box and there was a
beautiful pale green vase in the box with no chips or marks. I was
delighted because I knew I had seen this vase before. It had been in
the McCoy book I had recently bought. This started me on my own
collection, which I love.

1947, my dad bought my mother the tea pot, creamer and sugar bowl.
When I got married, my mom gave it to me. During our last move, the
tea pot disappeared...I'm not sure if it was broken or what happened,
but I never had the heart to tell my mom that I didn't have it any
longer. Since then my father passed away. Now my daughter is getting
married and my mom is urging me to give the set to my daughter....I
need a Tea Pot!!!!!!! I've tried e-bay and some other auctions, but
no luck.....Any suggestions?????Anyone willing to sell me their
teapot?! ;-)

I have a small collection of 4 Yellow Blossomtime vases. There are 3
different styles to my collection and I have had them for quite some

would like to know how many different styles of this design were

I recently purchased a small McCoy planter or bulb dish that has
light brown pine cone legs. The body of the planter has
brown-to-green-blue branches. Can anyone tell me the name of the
pattern and are there other types of pottery with this style? Anyone
know of the value of a piece like this in excellant condition? I like
it very much and am on the look out for more. Any information would

My mother & mother-in-law have gotten me interested in McCoy
pottery. The problem is that I am so young that I do not know which
pieces are original and worth anything from the fakes. I went to a
flea market this weekend and they had a piece of pottery with the
McCoy tradmark on the bottom, but it was a 1 piece. I mean the
pitcher and the bowl were stuck together. I have never seen this
before. I am looking for books on this matter and my public library
does not have anything that I may read on this subject. I have an
antique dealer here in town but, she will sell me book for $40.00. NO
DEAL. I would like to know more on McCoy, especially the pitcher and
bowl sets. Can anyone help me??? Thank you for your time. Sincerely,
A youngster with a new hobby!!

Hello. I became interested in pottery collecting about 6 months ago.
Started with Roseville - gathered a few pieces, mostly on eBay. Have
become a bit frustrated with the high level of both prices and
knock-offs in the Roseville arena. I already had some early '50s
McCoy flowerpots at home, and so now have started to check-out McCoy
pottery. My interest in McCoy currently lies mostly with the 1930's
"matte" pieces and with the '51 "arcature" pieces. I'd like to know
about these lines as well as about the "onyx" line of Brush.
Thanks.

Have extensive knowledge and resource material at home if you want to
email me a question about cookie jars. I collect Walt Disney Cookie
Jars for a safe investment; authentic Disney Cookie Jars have only
one way to go in value -- and that is up, in my opinion. I was born
in NY; have a domicile in NC; and currently here at Fort Polk, near
Leesville where the center of the universe is Walmart...... I
currently am establishing a pet memorial business thru mail and on
the Internet, with the itenion of establishing a storefront in about
a year.......stay tuned. Collect any cookie jar you want; as long as
you like it.....an one more adage, you get what you pay for......shop
around, yo will notice a change in prices from one shyster to the
next.....not everyones a shyster, but be careful on what yo buy and
especially if its high dollar....you got time.....research in you off
time, get informed....stay informed so you know what the treds are
and what yo are looking at: an unmarked collectible; or cheap
imitation....itsall up to you.....hope to hear from you soon. Take
care. Best regards. David E. Wesneski

Can anyone please tell me more about my cookie jar? I can't seem to
find much information on it. It's called "Astronaut", and it was made
by McCoy in 1963. It is round like the moon with three astronauts on
it. The lid has one astronaut sitting on top while the other two
astronauts are placed in the front of the jar. The only marking is
USA on the bottom. The color is blue/green. I'm not a collector, the
jar was given to me by my mother who got it at a garage sale in 1968.
I would appreciate any additional information. Thanks!

I thought that I had a large collection of McCoy (250) until I read
some fo these emails I have veen collecting for about 13 years but
just in the last 3 have I really been getting into it. Even my
husband is going wild now when we stop somewhere. My collection is
just of pitchers/basins. When I see one I just go CRAZY. The best way
to know the value of a piece is to get a book on McCoy. (Barnes and
Noble)I have paid any where from $2.00 to $60.00 and some are worth
$75.00. I guess my favorites are a matching pair of McCoy
pitcher/basin lamps that I bought in 2 different places nearly 45
miles apart.

I really enjoy collecting McCoy pottery. I started collecting in July
of 99 after visiting my sister, who has a small collection of various
McCoy pieces. I fell in love with 1 piece in particular; the
bird-bath. I came home and went crazy looking for McCoy at all of the
local junk shops. My husband has also started to become involved in
collecting with me. To my surprize I had gotten one of the birds
perched on a flower pieces when my grandmother died. My husband then
found another of the same piece at a local flea market for the huge
price of $3.00. Now, where ever we go, we turn every piece of pottery
over to see if it's truly the real "McCoy".
